Just read that some common houseplants can actually be toxic to pets if they chew on them

I was looking up care for my new peace lily and found a list from the ASPCA. It said over 700 plant types can make dogs or cats sick, which is way more than I thought. My friend's cat got really sick last year from a sago palm, and the vet bill was almost $800. I had no idea something so normal in a garden center could be that bad. I'm going through my apartment now to check what I have. Has anyone else had a scare with a plant and a pet?

Honestly this feels like major fear mongering. Most pets have the basic sense not to eat random plants. My dog has sniffed my peace lily a hundred times and never taken a bite. People have had houseplants and pets for decades without issue. You're talking about a tiny number of cases compared to all the pets out there. It's like saying you shouldn't have a kitchen because knives are dangerous. Just watch your animal and use common sense.

Yeah my cat got into a lily once and it was a scary vet trip. I just keep the risky ones up high now, better safe than sorry lol.
