Pro tip: I thought talking to my plants was silly until my basil in Phoenix doubled in size
My neighbor said she chats with hers every morning, so I tried it for a month with a specific daily water amount. Has anyone else actually seen a real difference from this, or did I just get lucky?

Totally agree with @paige166, that daily check-in is key. The routine makes you notice little things, like a weird leaf or dry soil, way before they become big problems.

Love that point about the daily check-in. I started doing something similar after reading @paige166's tip about talking to plants, and it really does make you more observant. Now I not only check the soil but also gently feel the stems for any unusual softness, which caught a case of early rot on my peppers last week. That routine turns small fixes into habits, doesn't it?

My tomato plants in Seattle were always struggling until I started talking to them while I watered. I read that the carbon dioxide from your breath can actually help them grow a bit. After two months of this, I got twice as many tomatoes as the year before. It might sound weird, but I'm convinced it made a real difference. The routine of checking on them daily probably helped me spot problems sooner too. I don't think it was just luck.

I mean, it's hard to separate the talking from the fact that you're probably just paying way more attention to your plants when you do it. The CO2 thing is real but you'd need to be huffing on that basil for hours to make a noticeable difference. Pretty sure it's just good watering habits dressed up as plant therapy.
