Unpopular opinion: Potted mint makes iced tea taste off
I planted mint in a container and now my homemade tea has a funny taste. How do you control mint flavor in drinks? I expected it to be refreshing but it's just overpowering.

Oh wow, mint is a total bully in drinks. You gotta use just a leaf or two, and crush it lightly with your fingers first. If you're brewing tea with mint, steep it for like a minute max, then pull it out. It's way stronger fresh than dried.

Sounds about right. I once put a "sneaky extra" sprig in a pitcher and basically made mint mouthwash.

Muddle it with sugar to balance the tea.

Yeah, muddling with sugar like that reminds me of when I used lemon balm in my tea. I crushed it up with a spoon of sugar, but it made the drink taste like candy. I learned that some herbs just soak up sugar differently. Balance is key, but it's easy to overdo it. Now I skip the muddle and just stir in a little sweetener after brewing.
