Spent 45 minutes scrubbing a TikTok filter off my bathroom mirror yesterday

I was cleaning a client's house and they had this weird rainbow filter effect stuck on their bathroom mirror from some video trend, took me forever to figure out it was just soap scum and hard water layered on there. Ended up using vinegar and newspaper after trying three different cleaners, and the whole thing took way longer than the actual bathroom should have. Has anyone else run into weird residue or stuff left behind from these short video challenges?

Typed out "hack of the day" in soap on my mirror and it stained for weeks. Vinegar really is the only thing that works for that stuff.

Wait, so even like a thin layer of soap can actually stain glass? I always thought it was fine to just wipe it off and that was that. I used to do those little doodles with soap on my bathroom mirror all the time, honestly never noticed any damage but now I'm kind of second guessing myself. Maybe it just depends on what kind of soap you use or how hot the water is, but I'll definitely try vinegar next time just in case.

It's funny how many things we think are harmless actually leave traces over time, even dish soap.
