Question for the crew: tower crane counterweights or a lift of pavers, which one waits longer for the crane?
I mean, we had a job in Tulsa last week where the tower crane operator was tied up lifting counterweights for like 3 hours before we even got his attention for our pallet of patio pavers. Idk if it's just me, but I'd rather backfill a trench by hand than sit there staring at a crane swinging heavy gear all day. The steel crew kept yelling at us to wait while they fought with slings, and our foreman finally just walked over and started hand-balling brick to the second scaffold. We got maybe 60 pavers placed in that same time, but at least we weren't standing around. Has anyone else had to schedule around crane counterweight drops, or is it always a battle with the ironworkers?
