Am I the only one who switched from buying pre-cut veggies to whole ones and saved a ton?
I used to just grab those bags of pre-chopped onions and peppers at the grocery store for convenience. Last month I finally started buying whole onions and bell peppers instead. The price difference is wild a whole bag of onions costs like $3 and lasts me two weeks but the pre-cut stuff was $5 for one meal. It takes me maybe an extra 10 minutes to chop everything myself while I watch a show on my phone. I also stopped buying those little packs of shredded lettuce and started chopping my own heads of romaine for salads. Has anyone else made this switch and noticed how much more you get for your money?

Did you ever add up how much time you were really saving with the pre-cut stuff?

Oh man, my friend Sarah was ALL about pre-cut veggies until she timed herself one night and realized she was only saving like 4 minutes because she still had to open all those plastic bags.

Her friend missed the point. It's not about time savings, it's about effort and consistency. I hate chopping onions so much that I'll skip a recipe just to avoid it. Pre-cut stuff means I actually cook instead of ordering takeout because I'm too tired to deal with a cutting board. Also, the time comparison is bogus if you factor in washing the knife and board afterward. Four minutes adds up when you're doing it every single night for a family.
