My rice cooker rice disaster turned into $1.50 dinner
Ngl, I was trying to make a cheap batch of rice and beans last week in my tiny Brooklyn kitchen. I accidentally dumped in way too much water and ended up with a pot of mushy sludge that looked like wet cement. Instead of tossing it, I spread it thin on a baking sheet, baked it at 350 for 20 minutes, and got these weird crispy rice cakes that actually slapped with hot sauce. Has anyone else salvaged a failed budget meal in a crazy way?

Wait you baked mushy rice and it turned into CRISPY CAKES? That's wild honestly lmao. I woulda just added more beans and called it soup or something. Last month I burned my lentils so bad the smoke alarm went off but I scraped off the top layer and threw the rest in a tortilla with cheese, it was kinda like a weird toasted flavor that worked.

Burned lentils actually make a decent smoky flavor if you catch em before they charcoal.

@jake747 same here! My mush turned into CRISPY Cakes too, total game changer for cheap eats.
