My sister told me I was wasting money on pre-cut veggies and it made me rethink everything
She said I was paying triple the price for the convenience of chopped onions and bell peppers at the grocery store. I started buying whole veggies and spending 15 minutes prepping them myself on Sunday nights. Has anyone else gotten similar pushback from family about their budget meal habits?

Oh wow, I've totally been there! My sister made the same comment to me until I pointed out that my time is worth something too, and those 15 minutes of chopping add up fast. I started doing a mix of both - pre-cut for things I use a lot of like onions and whole veggies for stuff I don't need right away.

Yeah, that mix of both sounds like a smart way to go. @nancy_wood, what's your take on the price difference though? Around here pre-cut onions can cost double what whole ones do, and that adds up over a month. I've noticed I can get through a whole bag of chopped peppers before they go bad, but a head of lettuce I'll buy whole every time. Just wondering if you've found certain pre-cut items are actually worth the extra money and others aren't.

Wait, hold on, double the price for pre-cut onions? Man, that is wild. I mean, I get paying a little extra for not having to cry over a cutting board, but double is rough. That actually makes me rethink my whole stance, idk. Like, I can see buying whole lettuce for sure, but even a bag of chopped peppers here is only like a dollar more, not double. That's a way bigger gap than I thought it was.
