Pasta isn't the cheap option it used to be in my area.
I've seen the cost of dried pasta rise a lot lately. It was my favorite for budget meals. Now I need new ideas for filling, low-cost dishes. What are your go-to ingredients when money is tight? I hope this isn't just happening here.
Yeah my buddy Dan was just saying this last week. He used to make pasta like four nights a week, but his grocery bill got crazy. Now he buys big bags of lentils and dry beans, the kind you have to soak. He makes a huge pot of soup with whatever veggies are on sale, like carrots and potatoes, and it lasts him days. Says it's even cheaper than pasta used to be.
Seeing pasta prices climb is frustrating for sure. @wesleyj19's friend Dan has the right idea with lentils and dry beans. My own go-to is eggs and potatoes, which are still affordable here. A big frittata with some cheese and veggies makes a filling dinner without breaking the bank.
