The hotel front desk clerk in Vegas told me I was packing wrong

She saw me struggling with a giant roller bag and said I should just bring a backpack and a foldable duffel. Said she does it for weeklong trips all the time. Has anyone else downsized their luggage and actually saved money on fees?

Front desk clerks in Vegas know a thing or two about traveling light. Bet she's never paid a bag fee in her life.

Buddy of mine worked the front desk at the Mirage for two years. Said he could spot the pros by how they folded their jeans into a carry-on. No checked bags, no waiting around, just a quick ID and they were gone.
