That meal prep service I was sure would be a waste of money
My coworker kept pushing this local meal prep place in Austin for months. I figured it was just overpriced salads and tiny portions. Finally tried their 5 meal plan for $65 last week. Portions are decent and I'm actually eating out less, about 3 fewer fast food runs per week. Anybody else find a service that surprised them cost wise?

$65 for five meals is $13 each which is basically the same as a Chipotle bowl. You're probably saving like $10 a week on fast food which is nothing in the grand scheme of things. Unless you were eating drive thru literally every single day it's hard to see the big savings here.

Ngl the real savings aren't about the dollar amount per meal, it's about not impulse buying chips, a drink, or a cookie every time you're at the register. When I used to hit the drive thru I'd always tack on a soda and fries without thinking, then wonder why my total was $18. Meal prep kills those random add-ons. Plus frozen food is way easier to track for people trying to count calories or macros since every serving is identical, which is a headache with restaurant food.

Ha! My impulse buy budget is a whole separate line item in my checking account.
