Appreciation post: my bullet journal actually failed me mid-month and I had to pivot hard

My trusty Leuchtturm1917 started falling apart about 3 weeks into January. The spine cracked and pages started coming loose right in the middle of my weekly spreads. I'd been using it for over a year with no issues, then bam, 40 pages just flopped out. I duct taped the spine but it made the book too thick to close properly. Ended up switching to a softcover notebook from the dollar store just to get through the month, and honestly it's working fine. So now I'm debating - do I go back to the expensive brand or stick with the cheap one? Anyone else had a journal literally break on them mid-stream like that?

Oh man, that's brutal... the Leuchtturm is supposed to be the reliable one. I had a Moleskine do the exact same thing to me once, pages just gave up in the middle of a trip I was planning out. It's such a bummer when you pay for the "good" brand and it lets you down like that. The cheap dollar store notebook might not look as nice but at least it sounds like it's holding together...

@robinp89 ugh I feel you on the Moleskine thing. The paper in those has gone downhill so bad lately. Quick heads up though - Leuchtturm is actually German for "lighthouse", not "reliable one" lol but I totally get what you meant

Three years ago I would've sworn by Moleskine but after two of them fell apart on me I switched to Leuchtturm and haven't looked back.
