Had to pick between a cheap spiral notebook and a $38 Leuchtturm1917 for my first bujo...

I went with the cheap one because I was scared of messing up an expensive book, and now the pages are bleeding through so bad I can see my grocery list from last Tuesday on the back of my monthly spread. Anybody else regret their first notebook choice?

OH MY GOD the bleeding through thing is the worst. I went with the cheapest composition notebook I could find at Target because I thought the same thing - why spend all that money if I might mess it up? But now I'm three months in and I literally can't read half my spreads because the ghosting is so bad. The pages feel like tissue paper and my pen marks show up on THREE pages behind where I write. I actually started taping scrap paper between the pages just to contain the bleeding. I wish I had just spent the money on something decent from the start because now I'm going to have to either deal with this mess or start over in a new notebook.

Wow, THREE pages of ghosting? That's ridiculous. I'd lose my mind if I couldn't read my own grocery list from a week ago. @tessap73 I feel for you with the scrap paper thing, that's some serious dedication. I went with a medium priced notebook after my first disaster, and even then I had to switch to finer pens just to make it work. But honestly, the bleeding through thing messes up the whole point of a bullet journal - you're supposed to be able to look back at your spreads without a decoder ring.

Three pages of ghosting is brutal, I feel for you. That scrap paper trick is smart but it sucks that you have to do that just to use a notebook normally. Starting over in a new one is a pain, but at least you'll know what to look for next time.
