Just realized my habit tracker was lying to me

I had this whole color-coded system for sleep and exercise. Last week I noticed I was filling in perfect circles for days I actually crashed at 9pm or skipped the gym. Had to throw out 3 months of data and start honest.

Habit trackers are funny like that. They don't actually track habits, they track what we want to believe about ourselves. The real test is what happens when nobody's watching the chart. That color coded system probably looked great on the wall though. Most people just quit when the data gets ugly, so at least you're starting over with real numbers now. Honest tracking is harder than the habit itself most days.

Honestly I learned that the hard way too, just track the ugly days and move on.

Heard someone say tracking a habit changes it, like you're watching yourself and screwing up the whole experiment.
