I treat cable layouts like art, but my partner calls it slow.
Debate: Should we prioritize looks or speed in our work?

Ever rush a cable job and then spend forever trying to fix a problem later? I did that once... had a whole switch go down. Now I take a bit more care from the start, even if it feels slow.

See I was totally in your partner's camp for years, just wanting to get the wiring done fast on server racks. But I had a job where we kept having to go back and fix messy bundles, tracing one bad cable through a rat's nest. Taking that extra twenty minutes upfront to run things neatly with zip ties and color coding saved so many hours later. The look wasn't the point, but doing it right the first time meant it worked better and longer. It changed my whole view on what "slow" really means.

That's so true in a lot of places. You see it with quick home repairs that just fail in a month, or skipping the prep before painting a room. Rushing the job often means doing it twice. Taking the time to do it right the first time, like with an oil change or even organizing a toolbox, always pays off later.
