The 10 year old drop amp I swapped out last month that changed everything

I replaced a drop amp from 2014 that was still passing signal but had a voltage drop of almost 4 volts under load. Customer's internet was cutting out every night at 8pm exactly when the neighborhood maxed out usage. Anyone else see old amps slowly degrade like this before total failure?

My buddy John had an old Cisco box from like 2012 that started doing the exact same thing, voltage kept sagging a bit more every week until one day it just quit and took his whole modem with it. He didn't notice until his wife's work calls kept dropping during prime time.

Agreed with @emma96 on this. Old power supplies get flaky over time and take other gear with them. Best to swap those aging units out before they cause problems.

Yeah, that "voltage kept sagging a bit more every week" is exactly how I've seen them go. I've had amps that looked fine on the meter but dropped 2-3 volts under heavy load, and swapping them fixed the issue every time. Once you catch that voltage sag early, you save yourself a truck roll when the unit finally gives up.
