Spilled coffee on a customer's rangefinder at a shop in Denver last Tuesday
I was fixing up a Leica M3 for a regular when my mug tipped over and coffee soaked the focus patch. Had to completely disassemble the viewfinder assembly to clean out all the residue and realign the beamsplitter. Anyone else ever had a sudden shop accident that took a simple repair and turned it into a nightmare?

Oh man, that's brutal! I had a similar disaster last year where I knocked over a bottle of isopropyl right into a Nikon F2's meter cell. Totally trashed the whole cleaning job and ended up having to basically rebuild the prism housing from scratch.

Did you have to replace the entire CdS cell or just clean it out?

Totally trashed the whole cleaning job" - that's the worst feeling. Helpless watching it happen. Makes you want to lock everything in a safe.
