Ditched my cheap sleeping bag for a quilt after freezing in 40 degree weather
I was dead set on a mummy bag until I spent a night shivering near Lake Tahoe last fall. Switched to a 20 degree Enlightened Equipment quilt and I sleep way better now. Anyone else made the switch from bags to quilts?

Man quilts are the real deal for side sleepers.

Honestly, did your grandma also have that one couch blanket that felt like it was made of bricks? My abuela had this heavy quilt that was almost impossible to wash but somehow always kept me from tossing around at night. So yeah, I get why side sleepers would love something with that kind of weight and structure.

That line about the "heavy quilt that was almost impossible to wash" hit me right in the memories, @miasanchez. My nana had this blue and white striped thing that weighed more than a small dog and shed fuzz all over everything it touched. I remember my mom trying to machine wash it once and it basically broke the agitator on our old Kenmore. We ended up having to take it to the laundromat and use the industrial dryers. But man, sleeping under that thing was like being in a cocoon. I swear it had some kind of superpower for keeping you from rolling around all night.
