Finally ditched my coleman sleeping bag for a quilt setup
I camped for 5 years with that heavy rectangular bag. Always thought quilts were a gimmick for ultralight snobs. Then last September at Yosemite Creek Campground I woke up at 2 AM tangled in the zipper. Freezing because I kicked the bag open. A guy two sites over had a katabatic quilt. He saw me struggling and let me check it out. That thing wrapped around his pad tight. No drafts. He said he never looked back. Bought a hammock gear econ quilt the next week. 19 ounces lighter. Has anyone else switched and found they sleep warmer now?

Oh man I read somewhere that the draft thing is the biggest game changer with quilts!

Straps are the secret. Pad attachment makes all the difference.

That's a fair point @felixm29. I used to think any old strap would do, but I've been proven wrong after a few bad experiences. The right pad attachment really does keep things secure and stops it from shifting around.
