A musician's apology on a late night show made me think twice
I used to think any public apology was just damage control, especially after that singer's 2019 scandal. But I saw a clip from The Tonight Show last week where he talked about the work he's done with a youth music program in Detroit for three years now. He didn't just say sorry, he showed the receipts. Has anyone else had their mind changed by seeing a celebrity actually follow through?

Remember that 2019 scandal was a different singer, not the one from The Tonight Show clip. They both had big hits around the same time, so it's an easy mix-up. I almost made the same mistake. Seeing the actual guy quietly work with that Detroit program for years did feel different than a basic press statement. It makes you wonder if we're too quick to group all apologies together.

Mixing up two singers is a funny internet moment, not some deep lesson. People mess up names all the time. Robert_ross95 has a point about actions, but quiet charity work is just one person being decent. It doesn't mean every public apology is fake or that we need to overthink a simple case of mistaken identity.

Wasn't that the same mix-up you mentioned, where actions just spoke louder?
