That Kevin Hart interview about his old tweets really bothered me

I was watching his sit-down with a podcaster last week where he explained those homophobic jokes from 2010. He kept saying he was just doing edgy comedy and everyone laughed back then. How many times does a celebrity get to say sorry before we actually believe they mean it and not just protecting their wallet?

My buddy Kevin from work had a similar thing happen... he got called out for old facebook posts from college and spent like three months apologizing before people even started listening. It's always about the money with these celebrities though, never feels real.

Yeah I used to think people were overreacting when they said those apologies were fake. But after seeing that Kevin situation play out and watching how media handles celebrity scandals, I think your buddy might be onto something. It's like once the money gets involved everything becomes a PR move instead of just a person trying to own up to their mistakes. The timing is always suspicious too like they wait until their bank account dips before suddenly remembering they did something wrong. Your mileage may vary but I've started paying way more attention to whether people are just saying what they think will help them vs actually meaning it.

Whoa, wait - three months of apologizing? That's wild.
