Took me 5 years to figure out I should ask for feedback before reviews, not after
Used to just sit through my annual review and nod along while my manager told me what I could improve. Last quarter I started sending a quick email 2 weeks before asking what I should focus on. Turns out most managers don't remember specifics from months ago, so getting feedback in the moment helped me actually fix things. Has anyone else found a system for getting real-time feedback without being annoying about it?

Honestly feels like overthinking a 30 minute chat.

Overthinking a 30 minute chat is exactly what you should do. People show who they are in small moments, not big speeches. A quick read of those little signals can save you months of trouble down the road.

Are you kidding me? A 30 minute chat is barely enough time to see if someone chews with their mouth open or not.
