Chalk lines used to be the whole job, now it's all laser levels

I started snapping lines with a chalk box back in 98, and you had to trust your eye and the string. Now every apprentice pulls out a laser and it's done in 20 seconds, but I still keep a chalk line in my bag when the battery dies. Anyone else feel like we lost some of the craft when we stopped fighting with the string?

Buddy of mine hit a dead laser and had to eyeball the whole layout, took two extra hours.
