TIL you can skip the pencil and use blue painter's tape for scribing odd corners
When I first started doing trim work about 8 years ago, I was that guy burning through a whole pencil on every cabinet install, marking off scribe lines and then trying to follow them with a jigsaw. A old timer on a kitchen job in Portland showed me to lay a strip of blue tape right on the gap, run a razor along the edge of the wall or cabinet, then peel it off and stick it on the board to cut. Saved me probably 20 minutes per cabinet and my gaps got way tighter. Now I keep two rolls in the truck and barely touch a pencil unless I'm framing. Anyone else using tape for scribes or am I late to this party?
You really think tape sticks the same on rough cedar or textured drywall? Real scribes need a compass or a tick stick, tape is just a shortcut that fails the second the surface isn't smooth.
