My sister's boyfriend works in PR and he told me something that made me rethink every apology video

We were at a barbecue last weekend and I asked him about that big apology from the singer who got caught lip-syncing. He said, 'The first rule is you never film in a studio. It looks too clean.' He explained they often use a plain wall at home to seem more real. He said the lighting is always soft, never harsh, and they rehearse the 'crying' part exactly 3 times before filming. It made me realize how much of it is a set, not a real moment. Has anyone else noticed a pattern in where they film these things?

That plain wall thing is so true, it's always a beige or gray wall with maybe one sad plant. But what gets me is the clothes. They're always in a simple t-shirt or sweater, like they're too upset to pick an outfit. Never a logo, never anything flashy. Do you think there's a PR rule about the wardrobe too, like it has to look humble?

Oh man, @scott.olivia is right about the humble clothes. It's like a uniform. I bet the rule is "dress like you just got bad news and had to run an errand.
