PSA: That TikTok apology from the home renovation influencer was a total setup

Last week I watched the video from @cottagecore_kenzie about the faulty wiring in her sponsored bathroom reno. She cried on camera for 3 minutes straight, looking really sorry. But I checked the timestamps on her Instagram stories from the same day and she was laughing at a coffee shop right after filming. Also, the 'independent electrician' she mentioned in the comments turned out to be her cousin who lives in the same town. Has anyone else spotted patterns like this in these apology videos?

You gotta give her credit for owning up to it at all though. Saying "she was laughing at a coffee shop right after filming" doesn't really mean anything, you don't know what she was laughing about or how long she was crying before that clip. As for the electrician being her cousin, that's pretty normal in a small town, everyone knows everyone. If she actually hired someone who wasn't certified then sure, that's shady, but having a family member who works in the field check your work isn't some big conspiracy. Don't you think people just like to find drama where there isn't any?

That coffee shop clip timing matters though when she's selling us a whole emotional breakdown.

Right, but owning up to something doesn't make it any less staged. The timing of that clip matters a lot when you're trying to sell a real moment to people.
