That Damon Wayans Jr. apology finally clicked for me after I saw his old stand-up clips
I always thought his recent video was just damage control until I watched his 2019 set where he literally joked about the same thing he apologized for. Did anyone else catch how his tone shifted after those old clips resurfaced?

The backtracking is so obvious when you watch them back to back. His whole vibe changed once the receipts started circulating online. It's wild how comedians think nobody will find their old YouTube clips.

Yeah, @singh.harper is right about the 2017 stuff. I saw that clip where he told the same joke but it was even more aggressive, like he was really leaning into it for shock value. The 2019 version felt like he was already testing the waters to see if he could soften it. It's just sad watching someone dig through their own past to figure out where they went wrong like that.
