I paid $75 for a 'secret' email about a celebrity's new project
A friend sent me a link to a newsletter that promised insider details on a big actor's next movie. It cost $75 for a single email. The email was just a list of rumors from two public fan forums, with nothing new. I checked the dates, and the forums had the same info posted for free a month before. The whole thing was a total scam. Has anyone else fallen for one of these paid gossip traps?

My buddy got a tip about some leaked game footage last year. He paid fifty bucks for a private video link. It was just a guy filming his TV screen playing a demo from a public event. The watermark from the event was still visible in the corner of the video. He was so mad he almost threw his phone.

Sounds like you paid for the privilege of reading a forum post. Not the worst way to spend seventy-five bucks, I guess.

That's a brutal lesson to learn. Paying for repackaged free info is just insulting. @felixhenderson is joking, but it really does feel like a total con. These sellers bank on that rush of wanting to be first to know. It makes you check the source of every "secret" twice now. The whole thing just leaves a bad taste.
