I used to roll my eyes at those 'before and after' celeb makeup posts...
But last week I saw a side-by-side of Jennifer Lawrence from a 2015 premiere vs. one from last month, and it finally clicked for me. Her face just looks softer and more relaxed now, like she stopped trying so hard with the contouring. I think what convinced me was reading a makeup artist break down how she ditched the heavy foundation and went for a tinted moisturizer instead around 2020. It made me realize most of what we call 'aging badly' is really just bad lighting and heavy makeup trends. Has anyone else ever had a specific before-and-after photo change their mind about a celeb?

Did you notice how Kylie Jenner's whole face changed when she stopped overlining her lips too?

The 2015 contour thing was honestly a nightmare. I remember seeing a picture of Jennifer Lawrence from around then and her face looked like a totally different shape, all sharp and harsh. Tbh I started noticing the shift when I saw a red carpet photo of her from 2019 where her skin actually looked like skin, not a mask. Once you see the difference between heavy matte foundation and a tinted moisturizer with a little glow, you can't unsee it.

Look, I get it, but is it really that deep? Contouring was just a trend. People went overboard, sure. But it's not like it ruined lives or anything. @walker.julia probably thinks the same thing about Kylie's lips. We all try different looks. Some stick, some don't. I just don't see the need to call it a "nightmare." It was makeup. Not a war crime.
