Switched my mind on using plastic liners after that house fire story
I always thought plastic liners were fine for quick jobs, but last month my buddy in Cleveland told me about a house fire caused by a melted plastic liner flue went up. After hearing that I pulled out a 6 month old plastic liner from a job and replaced it with stainless steel. Anyone else reconsider their liner material after a close call?

Wait, does that mean I have to rethink my whole tool belt philosophy... I've got a cheap extension cord running to my garage right now that's probably older than me. But yeah, that fire story got me too... I was all "plastic liner is fine for a quick flue job" until I saw the pictures my buddy sent. Now I'm that guy triple checking every connection and feeling like a paranoid dad. At least I caught my mistake before my house became a cautionary tale on the news.

Now that you're triple checking, have you actually gone out and replaced that old extension cord yet, or is it still the same one? Because I swear, half the battle is knowing something's wrong, the other half is actually doing something about it before it becomes a problem.

Is it just me or does every lesson in life seem to come from someone else's bad experience? Plastic liners feel fine until you hear about the fire, same way I never thought twice about cheap extension cords until my neighbor's garage went up.
