Just read that concrete makes up 8% of global CO2 and it blew my mind

I was looking at a report from the UN Environment Program and that number hit me. We talk about cars and planes all the time, but I never thought about the stuff our cities are built from. Has anyone found good info on what's being done to fix this, like using different materials?

I read about some companies trying to mix in old fly ash or slag to cut down on the cement part.

making people look around and feel scared" is exactly the problem. People react emotionally instead of looking at the actual data which shows most of those stats are cherry-picked and don't tell the full picture.
