Used to just eyeball my tool offsets, now I measure every single one after a $500 scrap part.

What's the point of measuring if it still works?

Measure to know why it works. Things can be broken in ways you don't see yet. Tracking the numbers shows you what's actually happening, not just what you feel is happening. It stops you from guessing and helps you make real changes. If you don't measure, you're just hoping for the best. That's a fast way for something that works today to fail tomorrow.

My old boss always said you can't fix what you don't measure.
