Back in 2012, I tried to learn coding from a single 800-page book I bought at the mall.

I was sitting at my kitchen table in Omaha, and I got stuck on a basic loop for three days straight. Then I found a free online course that showed the same thing with pictures and a five minute video... it just clicked. How did you all get past your first big coding wall?

Yeah, different voices help, but @wren230, it's more than just the example.

Totally get what you mean, @miasanchez. I had that with math, where the textbook made no sense. Then a friend drew a picture of pizza slices for fractions, and it just clicked. Sometimes you need that one person who explains it in a way that fits your brain.

Honestly, just finding a different person to explain it... that book's way wasn't for me, but a forum post used a totally different example and it made sense. Sometimes you need to hear the same thing in a different voice.
