Barista in Seattle told me my grinder was the real problem, not my beans

Was chatting with this guy at a shop in Capitol Hill last week after he pulled a shot from my bag. He said my grinder's burrs were worn out and that's why everything tasted flat, even the expensive stuff. Checked it when I got home, sure enough they were toast. Anyone else had a gear failure masquerade as a bean problem for months?
