Pro tip: My pour-over carafe went from cloudy to clear after a 5-minute vinegar soak
I picked up a used Hario V60 carafe from a garage sale for $3. It had this white, cloudy film inside that wouldn't budge with soap. I tried hot water and a brush for a week with zero luck. Then I filled it with equal parts white vinegar and water, let it sit for 5 minutes, and rinsed. The cloudiness was completely gone. Has anyone else had stubborn buildup on their glassware from hard water?

Did you use hot or cold vinegar for that soak?

Oh man, I've been down this rabbit hole before... I went with hot vinegar for my soak because I figured heat helps everything work better right? But then I burned my fingers trying to fish stuff out of the bowl and had to wait 20 minutes for it to cool down anyway. Cold vinegar just sits there doing nothing unless you have a whole weekend to wait. Next time I'm just using room temperature tap water and calling it a day.

Stick with cold or room temp vinegar here, @olivia_lopez98 - hot vinegar works faster but it’s not worth burning yourself over. The cold soak works fine if you give it a little more time, like 10 minutes instead of five.
