Drove 2 hours to a comic con in Nebraska and every booth had the same 3 boxes of 90s X-Men

I went to the Omaha Comic Expo last Saturday and walked past 12 different vendors who all had the exact same long boxes filled with issue #1 of X-Force and 4 copies of Age of Apocalypse. The guy next to me was trying to sell a scratched Wizard magazine for $20 like it was gold. Has anyone else noticed how every small con just has the same stuff now?

Not really sure I agree that the old days are gone. I hit a small show in Lincoln last month and found a beat up copy of an early 70s Howard the Duck for five bucks buried in a random dollar box. It's still there if you're willing to dig through the same boring long boxes instead of just looking at what's on top.

The guy trying to sell a scratched Wizard magazine for $20 really sums it up. That kind of thing tells you everything about where these smaller cons are at now. It feels like the dealers are all buying the same bulk lots online and then driving around to the same shows. Nobody's bringing out the weird stuff from the 70s or the underground comics anymore. It's just the same overprinted 90s books over and over. Makes me wonder if the days of finding a hidden gem at a small show are just gone for good.

Are we really acting like this is some kind of tragedy?
