Spent 45 minutes trying to figure out why my Kirby Morgan was leaking... it was the nose clip.

Disagree a little bit here. A nose clip leak can feel stupid when you find it, but those little details are exactly what kill your gas and your air. Had a buddy spend a whole dive fighting a freeflow only to realize his inflator valve was stuck open. We all do it, man. 45 minutes beats a bent gas embolism from a bad seal any day.

and honestly the thing that finally helped me was just taking a completely systematic approach. idk maybe it's just me but I started treating it like a checklist: mouthpiece seal, then exhaust valve, then the inflator, then the nose clip. I mean I still felt pretty dumb when it turned out to be the nose clip after all that but at least I wasn't guessing anymore. what really stuck with me though was a tip from an old instructor: always do a quick pressure test with the mask flooded before you even get in the water. saved me more than a few times since then.

Yeah harpercampbell the only thing worse than a nose clip leak is spending 45 minutes looking for it.
