A client in Phoenix told me to just 'make it work' on a 15-year-old server

They said 'it's just a box, right?' and that hit different because I'd been planning to upsell them on a new unit. Now I'm wondering if we push hardware upgrades too fast when a simple fix might do. How do you decide when to recommend a full replacement versus a repair?

Notice it happens all the time. People write off a client or a customer as clueless, then they say one smart thing that changes everything. It shows we make quick judgments and miss good ideas from unexpected places. Happens in offices, online, even with friends. We need to listen better from the start.
