Update: A client's PC in Tempe took me 4 hours to fix because of a corrupted driver that kept reinstalling itself.

I'm torn between the idea that you should always nuke the OS from orbit for a clean start versus the pride of hunting down the exact root cause, so what's your go-to move when a simple fix turns into a half-day project?

My pride says hunt it down, but my back says just reimage the thing. Four hours is my limit before I tap out.

Oh man, that "corrupted driver that kept reinstalling itself" is the worst kind of ghost in the machine. When you hit that point, do you have a specific tool or method you trust to really dig in and stop the reinstall loop, or does that become the moment you finally pull the plug on the whole OS?

Feel the same pull between pride and practicality every time. I once spent a whole afternoon chasing a printer driver that just would not die. Honestly, after two hours, you gotta cut your losses and just wipe it for a fresh start.
