Saw a crew in Austin using a weird new trowel finish
I was visiting family in Austin last weekend and watched a crew finishing a driveway off Lamar Blvd. They were using some kind of foam roller attachment on a power trowel instead of the usual steel blades. Anyone know what that technique is called? Does it hold up better in hot weather?

Heard about that from a buddy who builds pools down there. He said it's called a "permeable finish" or sometimes a "broomed trowel" job. The idea is it creates tiny pores in the surface so water doesn't sit on top and bake like a skillet. Seems smart for Texas heat where regular finishes can get too hot to walk on by noon.

Smart idea for a place where the sun tries to cook your patio.

Huh, does that broom finish actually hold up to algae though?
