Overheard a guy at the coffee shop say chemtrails are real because his buddy works at an airport
I didn't even know what to say to that. I mean, I've seen the whole debate online but hearing someone say it like it's a fact in real life made me wonder how many people actually believe this stuff. Has anyone else had a weird run-in with someone who just states a conspiracy like it's common knowledge?

My friend Sarah once heard a guy at a barbershop explaining how the moon landing was faked because his uncle knew someone who worked at NASA. She just sat there with her magazine, not knowing if she should laugh or ask for proof. The weirdest part was how calm he was about it, like he was telling you the sky is blue. Another lady chimed in to agree about chemtrails, said her neighbor used to spray for the county and saw the tanks himself. It's wild how one story from some guy's buddy can turn into a whole belief system.

Funny you mention that, because I actually pushed back on a buddy of mine who started going down that road. He kept talking about his cousin who saw some weird trucks near an airport. I told him straight up that most planes leave visible trails depending on weather and altitude, and the conspiracy stuff usually falls apart when you look at how many pilots would have to keep quiet. My friend got a little defensive, but I pointed out that if his cousin really saw something illegal, there are actual ways to report it instead of posting on Facebook. It's a lot easier to believe someone's uncle than to check a basic science fact, you know? Not saying I'm right about everything, but the burden of proof is on the person making the wild claim.
