Just figured out I was using my laser level completely wrong for months
Was on a job last week setting up some drop ceiling grids in a 2,000 sq ft office space, and my lines kept shifting. Finally an electrician walked over and pointed out I had the self leveling mode on while working on a slightly uneven subfloor. I had been fighting the damn thing instead of just locking it down. Has anyone else had a tool "aha" moment that made you feel like an idiot?

...and then you just stood there wondering how many other jobs you messed up before someone said something. I did the exact same thing with my Bosch laser on a basement remodel last spring. Kept recalibrating the stupid thing every 15 minutes until my helper asked me why I didn't just flip the lock switch. Felt like a total rookie after 20 years in the game. Now I always check that lock before I even set it down on the tripod.

Wait, hold on. Nancy, @nancy_king29, you're telling me that little switch was the problem the whole time? I've had that exact Bosch model for like four years now and I've been fighting the damn thing on every job because it would randomly start blinking and dropping level. I must've sent it back to Bosch twice thinking it was a lemon. Now I'm sitting here wondering how many floors I laid just a hair off because I never bothered to check that stupid lock. That's the kind of thing that keeps you up at night, I swear.

You spent four years blaming the tool before checking the only switch on it, huh?
