My new shears were a total game changer, but the price tag hurt
I finally bit the bullet and bought a pair of Japanese-made cutting shears for about $350. For the first week, I was scared to even use them, worried I'd made a huge mistake. But after my first few cuts, the difference was clear. The blades are so sharp and balanced, my hand doesn't get tired during a full day of layered cuts. It's honestly made my precision work, especially on fine textures, so much easier and cleaner. Has anyone else found a specific tool that was worth the big investment, even if it stung at first?

Which brand of shears did you go with?

Actually, I've had the opposite happen. My good shears sat for a year while I used my cheap pair for everything, and they were totally fine when I went back to them. I just gave them a quick wipe with the oil cloth. The whole "use it or lose it" thing with tools gets overstated sometimes. If you keep them clean and dry in the case, they'll be okay. Not using them for a while never hurt mine at all.

Absolutely, my good shears felt like a splurge but they make every cut feel Effortless now.

Oh, I know that feeling of being scared to use the expensive thing... but honestly, the real mistake is letting them sit in the case. The metal can actually get a weird film if you don't use them regularly. I learned that the hard way with my first good pair. Using them keeps the action smooth and stops any little spots from forming.
