Lunch breaks used to mean sitting in the cab, now I set up a camp chair 50 feet away
For 8 years at the Port of Seattle I ate my sandwich 200 feet up in a Liebherr LTM 1050. Last Tuesday I finally got sick of the vibration rattling my fillings out, so I grabbed a folding chair and parked it on the concrete below. Feels weird looking up at the hook instead of down, but my back actually thanks me. Anybody else change where they eat after a decade of doing it the same way?

Did you find the lower back pain fading pretty quick after making the switch? I spent twelve years eating lunch on a concrete median strip between two lanes of traffic because it was the only dry spot by the job site. My tailbone was numb for years and I just thought that was normal. Turns out sitting on a bucket with no back support is not great for a person. Now I keep a padded stadium seat in my truck and I wont get out of the cab without it.

Concrete median strip for twelve years? That's brutal. No way I'd last a week doing that. My back would've given out completely.

Wait, a padded stadium seat in the truck? That's genius, why didn't I think of that lol. My tailbone has been screaming for years too, but I just figured it came with the job. I grabbed a camping chair with a little cushion, but it's still pretty flimsy. Might have to steal your idea for that stadium seat, honestly.
