Pro tip: My walk-around habit caught a loose bolt.

Spotting that early saved a big headache later on.

Yeah, that whole 'walk around and look' thing is weirdly useful. I do the same dumb lap around my car before long drives, kicking tires for no real reason. Once caught a plastic bag wrapped around the axle that was starting to smolder. Not quite a bolt, but it did save me from a truly weird roadside fire. Guess we're all just out here hoping to spot the weird thing before it bites us.

Seriously? A plastic bag starting to smolder sounds like a stretch. Those things usually just melt and make a nasty smell, not actually start a fire. You probably just saved yourself a melted mess, not a roadside emergency.

Reading about that plastic bag starting to smolder from @cooper.patricia actually made me stop and think. I always figured walking around your car was just something nervous people did for no reason. Then I noticed my own tire looking a little low last week, and sure enough there was a nail stuck in it. If I hadn't been doing that pointless look-over, I would have driven on it and made things way worse. It's wild how such a simple habit can actually prevent real trouble. So yeah, that whole idea of catching small stuff early totally makes sense to me now.
