I keep hearing that film camera repairs are dying, but my shop is busier than ever with them.

See kids fixing old cameras, @shane357, that's where the real business is now.

TIL my oven's temperature is off by 25 degrees

Read that even a 25 degree difference can ruin baked goods. Pastry experts say temp control is key for consistency. I wouldn't just adjust time without checking first.

When a client compared their fridge hum to a bee swarm

Heard a customer once say their air conditioner was groaning like a tired bear. Another time, my neighbor swore his car engine was singing opera when it idled. It's wild how our minds turn random noises into stories. Makes you appreciate the weird ways people describe stuff.

My cousin's joke about my multimeter use shifted my diagnostic approach

After that family cookout where your cousin made the joke, did you ever ask him about his own tool mistakes? abby_martinez's mix-up with AC and DC settings is something I see all the time in my workshop. What exactly did your cousin say that stuck with you? I'm curious if it was a funny one-liner or more of a teaching moment. That kind of embarrassment can really change how careful you are with diagnostics.

TIL waiting to book certain train tickets until the last minute can actually pay off

Yeah @margaretpark, you're right that the route matters a ton. I tracked a Denver to Vegas flight for weeks once and the price actually dipped two days out because the flight was empty. But I'd never try that for a popular holiday spot, way too scary. My only real tip is to check at like 1pm on a Tuesday, that's when I've seen drops.
