Appreciation post: My cousin swore by this 'rent reporting' app to fix my credit for a house, and I thought it was a scam.
After 8 months of paying $8 a month to have my $1,200 Atlanta rent reported, my score jumped 40 points and I just got pre-approved. Anyone else had a surprise win with a service they doubted at first?

That's awesome, congrats on the pre-approval! Just a heads up, some of those services report to a different set of credit bureaus than the main ones lenders use for mortgages.

Actually my lender told me Experian and Equifax are the big two for mortgages, and most of those services DO report to at least one of them. My credit karma score moved almost the same as my FICO 8 from Experian when I paid off a card.

So which services exactly are reporting to the smaller bureaus then? Because if Credit Karma is showing VantageScore and it moved like your FICO, that seems pretty close for tracking. But if some lenders only pull from the big two, it feels like those other scores are just for our own info. Makes you wonder why they even bother with all these different models if the mortgage folks only care about one or two.
