Found my old credit report from 3 years ago and almost laughed

Digging through files to find a warranty card and stumbled on a credit report from 2021 with a 542 score. Three years of paying everything on time and keeping balances low got me to 712. Has anyone else seen that big of a jump after just sticking with the basics?

That 542 to 712 jump is basically the credit score equivalent of getting held back in school and then graduating with honors.

My buddy Marco went from a 498 to a 730 in about four years. He just set up automatic payments for everything and stopped opening new store cards every time he checked out. The only tricky part was he had one old medical bill that he had to call and negotiate a pay-for-delete deal on, but other than that it was literally just time and patience. Felt like watching grass grow but it worked out.

lol i love that. the grass growing comparison is so real. i went from 530 to 690ish just by paying off one dumb collections thing and never missing a payment. it was boring as hell but seeing that number go up is a weirdly satisfying feeling.
