Question about that myth that paying collections resets the clock
A guy at a housing seminar in Phoenix told me paying a $600 medical collection would restart the 7-year reporting period. I called the credit bureau myself and they said that's not true for medical debts in my state. Has anyone else gotten mixed info on this?

Yeah I gotta agree with what you said about it not restarting anything. A buddy of mine had this same worry with a $300 electric bill that went to collections. He ended up paying it and checking his credit report every month for like a year after, scared it was gonna reset the clock. Nothing happened, it just stayed on there the normal amount of time and then fell off like it should have. That seminar guy was probably just repeating some old rumor he heard somewhere. Did you end up paying yours or just let it slide?

Phoenix seminar guys know nothing, I swear. Good on you for calling the bureau yourself and not just taking his word for it.
