Saw a claim that 70% of small shops fail in year one, then I actually checked the source
A guy in my fencing install crew swore up and down that 7 out of 10 small businesses close inside a year, and he got it from some viral Facebook post with like 40k shares. I got bored one night and traced it back to a 2019 article that was quoting a study from the 90s about a totally different industry, and the real number for our kind of trade work is way lower. Where do you all go to check a stat when the source is just a screenshot with no link?

Heard a podcaster say the same stat is totally made up.
